The PostgreSQL Global Development Group is an international group of companies and individuals. These companies and individuals contribute to the project. Next to this is the PostgreSQL Core Team, this is a committee consisting of 5 to 7 senior developers who also contribute to the project. They do the following: they set release dates, handle confidential matters for the project, are the spokespersons for the PGDG when necessary and also act as arbitrator if there are discussions in the community where no consensus is found.
